Clean and Clear Face Wash (Lactic acid and sodium-PCA)

Clean and Clear face wash contains Lactic acid and sodium-PCA. It is used as a lubricant and moisturizer to relieve the itching and dryness of the skin.

Lactic acid and sodium-PCA Uses:

  • It is used to lubricate and moisturize the skin to relieve dryness and itching.

Lactic acid and sodium-PCA Dose in Adults:

Clean and Clear Face wash Dose as Lubricant and moisturizer:

  • Apply over the face two times a day.

Use in Children (Adolescents):

Refer to adult dosing (Apply two times a day)


Pregnancy Risk Category: C

  • Animal reproduction studies have shown that its ingredients are safe. 
  • It has not been tested in pregnancies. 
  • Most topical ingredients are safe because they cause minimal systemic exposure.

Use during breastfeeding:

  • It can also be used during lactation. It should not be applied directly to the nipples.

Use in Kidney Disease:

No dosage adjustment is recommended.

Use in liver disease:

  • Photosensitivity

    • Photosensitivity can cause skin reddening, itching and swelling. Avoid direct sunlight.
  • Skin irritation:

    • You may experience local side effects such as burning, stinging and peeling. If skin irritation is observed, it should be avoided.

Calcipotriene

Lactic Acid may diminish the therapeutic effect of Calcipotriene. Management: Monitor for reduced calcipotriene efficacy if combined with lactic acid. Consider separating the administration of these agents by 10 to 12 hours to minimize the risk of this potential interaction.

How to administer Lactic acid and sodium-PCA?

A small amount of the face wash is applied over the wet skin and gently rubbed for a few seconds and then rinsed.


Mechanism of action of Lactic acid and sodium-PCA:

  • It has two active ingredients, Lactic acid as well as Sodium-PCA. It is also a natural humectant. 
  • It keeps the skin moistened by retaining water. Sodium-PCA acts as an exfoliator and keratolytic agent by opening blocked follicles.
